This morning, PlayStation announced a limited edition 007: First Light controller will be releasing on May 27th alongside the game with a recommended retailer price of $84.99. Pre-orders go live April 17th, but with a release date of May 27th, I have my doubts about when the controller will actually be shipped out and delivered. Here’s some extra details on pre-order time:

“Starting 7:00 am PT/10:00 am ET in the U.S., and 10:00 am local time in the U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, players will be able to pre-order the DualSense wireless controller – 007 First Light Limited Edition through direct.playstation.com in limited quantities.” -Directly from PlayStation’s blog

As you can see, the controller is mostly golden with with 007 logo prominently featured on the touchpad, and an expanding gunbarrel-esque design that spreads to either side. It also features the games logo on the back, supported by the tagline: “EARN THE NUMBER”.

While I am a fan of the controller, I do think they could have done a bit more with it design wise, especially on the handles. The simplicity of the back is fitting, but the intricacy of the touchpad design makes the design on the handles seem slightly lackluster. I also find myself wondering if they could not have done something unique with the triggers as well. I rarely get limited edition controllers, or more than two in general because of the prices, but I do not think I want to miss out on this one. Will you be picking it up?
